Goals & Comments

Before I begin part two of "Weekly Meal Planner Part II," I've decided that it may be slightly important to address my goals and explain the audience this blog is directed towards. I would also like to respond to comments made about my previous post.

My goals include:
1. Help followers save as much money grocery shopping as they can, while still eating healthy, wholesome, homemade meals.
2. Help followers learn about nutritional needs and how to apply them to their meal plans.
3. Help followers learn how to become better organized planners, list makers, and grocery shoppers.
4. Share great recipes that are delicious, healthy, and not from a box.
5. Help followers learn how to budget and get out of debt.
6. Share clothes shopping secrets.
7. Share tips on how to build food storage while on a budget.
8. Share tips on how to build a 72 hour kid while on a budget.
9. Learn the difference between wants and needs and live according.

Right now these are my goals. They may change. I may add more.

I hope that my followers, besides friends and supporters, are those who really want to find the best ways to save money. So many of us live pay check to pay check, or worse, unemployment check to unemployment check. This blog is for those who are on a VERY tight budget or for those who want to try to live by a budget. The suggestions I make are based on my experiences and some research. I hope that this blog will help you be better organized and happier, despite difficult times.

Now for your questions and comments-
1. Our family does not eat out. Our boys are not restaurant friendly. Although we do order take out sometimes. We try to budget for this, but sometimes it occurs because the cook is sick, or the day became unexpectedly hectic and stressful. On average we try to order take out about twice a month. When we're good we order out once a month and make it a treat.
2. I think it's great that some of you already have some type of meal plan in place. Planning dinners is great, but that doesn't account for everything. Although I challenge you to try planning all of your meals and make a grocery list that matches those plans and I'm almost 100% certain that you'll spend less.
3. Shopping every two weeks is great, especially if you have an amazing garden with fresh produce. But, try shopping once a week with everything planned out and see how much you spend in comparison after two weeks. In my experience I spend half as much shopping once a week than I do shopping every two weeks.

I love hearing all about what you do and what you think you can't do. What works for some may not work for others. It's my goal to share what works for me. Weekly Meal Planner Part II will be posted in a few days.

I think you are doing a great job. I too spend less shopping once a week, although I make a meal plan for a month, because, well we have a lot of visitors and I have to plan for them too! :)
